Postpartum Counselling

The postpartum period can bring emotional, physical, and identity changes that feel overwhelming and unexpected. Many women struggle with anxiety, low mood, exhaustion, or feeling unlike themselves after birth.

I offer compassionate postpartum counselling in Red Deer, providing a supportive space to process this season, feel understood, and receive care without judgment or pressure.

Postpartum counselling support may be helpful if you are navigating:

  • postpartum anxiety or depression

  • intrusive or distressing thoughts

  • feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or emotionally numb

  • identity shifts after becoming a parent

  • difficulty bonding or feeling present

  • irritability, guilt, or shame

  • pressure to “enjoy this time” when you’re struggling

  • challenges adjusting after birth, even if everything looks “fine” on the outside

Who May Benefit

Common Experiences with Postpartum

Many women describe feeling surprised by how hard the postpartum period feels. You may love your baby and still feel anxious, exhausted, or emotionally flat. You may question yourself as a parent or feel isolated in ways you didn’t expect. Counselling offers space where these experiences are normalized and met with care, not comparison or expectations.

How Counselling Helps

Postpartum counselling focuses on emotional support, nervous system regulation, and making sense of the many changes that come with new parenthood. Sessions move at your pace and centre your experience, helping you feel less alone while navigating anxiety, mood changes, identity shifts, and the demands of this season.

I offer postpartum counselling in Red Deer and provide online counselling to clients across Alberta.
